The customer was going through a rapid expansion, however cost drivers and availability issues with the existing network made it clear that there was a pressing requirement for a new managed network infrastructure.
Repeat network issues had been experienced over a number of years and this was affecting production activities in the customer’s largest warehouse. Issues had also been identified including tracking of hardware, poor Wi-Fi coverage in some locations and ageing equipment, all of which needed to be addressed as a priority.
The Systal team extended to a number of highly skilled engineers in the Network Operations Centre and a number of field engineers. The team hold a number of key certifications in the technologies used by the customer including Cisco CCIE and CCNP, Checkpoint CCSA & CCSE, Juniper JNCIP and Aruba certifications.
In order to address the issues the team undertook a detailed analysis of the LAN, WAN, firewall infrastructure and WLAN infrastructure. The review was completed by a small number of lead engineers and allowed for a complete review of the design, network redundancy, firewall rules and security policies, user access and performance and network stability. Service improvement projects were identified and delivered specifically in the WLAN and core network.
The team also deployed Paessler PRTG to monitor all the network devices which provided a detailed view of the network health in real time. Key links were also monitored for throughput and bandwidth issues and alerts were generated when key thresholds were breached giving us visibility of issues before they became much more serious outages.

The customer now has a much more stable network environment with a greatly reduced number of Priority 1 and Priority 2 LAN related incidents.

The network is functioning in a stable and predictable way. The Systal team have an excellent view of network health from the NOC and this information can be shared quickly with the customer during incidents.

The customer is experiencing greater throughput due to the availability of links and greater reliability due to improved WLAN and Core network performance.
